The long-awaited momentous occasion finally arrived on Thursday, June 14th 2018, with hundreds of people on hand to witness the placement of the historic railroad caboose at the new Railroad Heritage Park in Downtown Fallbrook at Main and Elder.  This marks only the first phase of the development of the Railroad Heritage Park, with plans to include a future mock railroad station, educational kiosks, and even a small stage for performances.  This project is expected to spark heightened interest in the railroad heritage and history of Fallbrook, and increase tourism to downtown.
