Formway Machines Los Altos 1939
The walnut was first cultivated in California by the Franciscan Fathers in the late 1700s. The earliest walnuts to enter California were known as “mission” walnuts. Walnuts were a crop on many Fallbrook farms.
William E. Formway (1896-1945) was a garage mechanic and the son of an orchardist in San Jose, CA. He received his patent for a walnut huller in 1939. This model called the “Wizard”, appears to be a working model.
