Sherill’s Aunt Mary Medearis lived in Fallbrook for many years. She was well known by many people.
Aunt Mary owned and operated a laundry on the NW corner of Iowa and Dougherty St, eventually moved the laundry to her last residence in Fallbrook, on corner of Alvarado and Brandon. (now known as The Brandon House, owned by Art Lenfers). The Thrift store behind it was her laundry which was converted to rooms during World War II for her boarders. As newlyweds, Dorthy and I rented a room with kitchen privileges form her. She worked as a cook in the old Hotel on Main St., also managed her own little restaurant/gas station on the corner of Mission and Main St.
When her health was failing she sold the home to Art Lenfers, moved to Chowchilla, California to be close to her son, Kenneth and his wife. Mary Medearis passed away 4-13-1987 and is buried in Temecula.
